Aprons & Sugar Bowl Pin Cushions

Dress Front Apron &/Bonnett

    I've been making aprons the last couple of days, here are pictures of a couple of them.  The one on the right is a floor length granny apron with bonnet.  I hope to get a few more of these made before Fall.  This one is more of a costume type to wear for 'Old Fashioned Days',  festivals, etc.

   The little pink apron to the left is a shortie.  My husband says it looks more like a bathing suit.









                 

Sugar Bowl Pin Cushions

    I found a these old sugar bowls at the flea market a few days ago, they didn't have lids, so,  I decided to make pin cushions out of them.  I don't like to see pretty old dishes go to waste, I like the way they turned out.

I've been collecting aprons for many years.  They are one of my favorite things to collect.  I collect all styles and colors.  I am looking for new ideas on how to display them, without taking up too much space.  I really like the dress up aprons.  Many times when we are having a get together, that is when we really need an apron.

    Of all the things I received for Christmas; these two beautiful aprons are among my favorites.  Our daughter made them, and they are precious to me.




A Gift From a Friend

   The day before Christmas I received two packages in the mail.  One was these minature utensils from my dear friend, Susan.  I think they are beautiful, and work so well in my kitchen.  Susan is not only a good friend, she is a good cook as well.

  The other package I received was from my childhood friend, who now lives in Nebraska.  It was my favorite candy and a friendship magnet.  The candy was great.  The magnet was beautiful.  The friendship; priceless.










Christmas 2010

    We received so many thoughtful gifts this year it is hard to include them all.  From boxed candy, ham, shuck beans, homemade candy, crafted items, fleece sheets, candles, a beautiful scarf, muscadine jelly, flannel shirt, Case knife, movies, cd's and I could go on and on. 
    We are thankful for the beautiful Christmas snow, and all our family and friends.  And are so thankful for the many gifts we received.

Almost time to make aprons and bonnets for 'Old Fashioned Days'.

  Sewing is one of my favorite hobbies.  Just about every Fall, I start making calico print aprons and bonnets for 'Old Fashioned Days' at church.  I like to have some made up because we attend several churches in the surrounding area and have many friends in each of them.  Usually starting about September some of them call to see if I have any aprons and bonnets made.  It is so nice when I can say,"Yes, I do, just come and pick you out a set." I have some different bonnet patterns to try this year; I'm excited.  I love Fall of the year. The multi-colored leaves look like a color pallet from God's own hand; and briskness in the air makes for a fine day of hiking in the woods.
