A Beautiful Sunday Sabbath

Sunday Evening Sunset
   It's been beautiful Sunday Sabbath.

Service at the old country church.

A visit with an old friend.

An evening walk around the lake.

God's Blessings surround us everyday.

The leaves were a spectical of color,
though it was too dark
for the colors to show in the picture.

The evening air was clear and brisk, but soft rays of sunshine
warmed our bodies, as we stood in awe of God's beauty.

I am reminded of the following verses:

But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,

neither have entered into the heart of man,

the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

But God hath revealed them to us by the Spirit:

for the Spirit searcheth all things,

yea, the deep things of God.

1st.  Corinthians 2: 9-10

Old Fashioned Days at Church

Ryans Creek Baptist Church Established 1884
We attended Old Fashioned Days at Ryans Creek Baptist Church today.  It was a beautiful Autumn day, and the mountains seemed to sing with God's glory.  The singers sang with joyous hearts, and the preacher peached with all his heart.  The food was spread like a banquet for a king, the fellowship as sweet as the Autumn breeze.  How I wish everyone could attend an Old Country Church, and feel God's Spirit deep in their soul.  Blessings, Trisha

Why Labor Ye for the Meat that Perisheth?

Worldly Things Pass Away

I awoke this morning with this verse on my mind:
Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you:  for him hath God the Father sealed.
                     John Ch. 6 v. 27

Then 1st. John Ch. 2 v. 15, 16, 17 says:

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:  but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

I couldn't help but think how most of us are guilty of seeking the world's goods.
Sometimes without even realizing it.

We have lost several friends lately, and as I reflect on their lives,
I can see that those who had little, and those who had much,
 equally enjoyed their lives.

Yesterday we had a visit from and elderly friend, who had just lost her husband.

God has blessed these friends with much land and finances.

Our friend talked a little about selling one of their farms;
but the farm she was talking about is the one that their son loves to hunt on.

And I thought this.  If you don't need the money,
why trade the farm for paper, or numbers that will be calculated into a bank account.
The son who is an avid hunter, would be better served getting to hunt the farm,
rather than have more numbers added to a bank account.

Why do we labor for the meat that perisheth?

The Lord told us not to.

We need to set our sites on things eternal.

The friends we recently lost, took no worldly goods with them,
but those who had made their election and calling sure,
their works did follow them.

Blessings, Trisha

Another Season, Another Chance

Fall Marigolds
Another season, is here,
another chance to do the will of God.
Time passes so swiftly, seems like we blink,
and a day, then a season is gone.
So many I know are waiting
 for a more convenient season,
to accept the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Many, I've known for years are letting seasons
come and go, without coming to the Lord.
Some even say, " I'm gonna live a little,
and when I get old, I'll come to him."
What a foolish thing to say,
the Bible says, that God's Spirit shall not always strive with man.
Fall Wreath, Our Daughter Made Us

It is not God's will that any should perish.
Salvation, and the blessings of God
are for all who will come to him.

Please don't let another season pass,
without coming to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please help me pray for those
who are letting the seasons pass.

Blessings,   Trisha

When the Son of Man Cometh, Shall He Find Faith on the Earth?

Another Lord's day.
Another chance to worship our Almighty God,
and Saviour Jesus Christ.
We went to a local church this morning,
and a visiting preacher preached a message very similar
to the one my husband preached to the same church,
a few weeks ago.

This morning's message had Fire and Life in it,
but, few in the church seemed to feel it.
It was wonderful to see, and feel God working through,
His God called minister, but, heartbreaking to see the null and void look
on the faces of most of the congregation.

When the service began, rather nonchalantly,
I wanted to shout out. "God deserves better than this!"
The songs were seemingly sung without meaning,
prayer requests, seemed to be spoken in the wind,
I just couldn't wait for the service to be over, and get to leave.

Guess, I felt a little like Elijah, when he said,
"Lord they have killed your prophets,
and torn down your Altars, and I alone, am left."
God told Elijah, He had 7,000 that had never bowed a knee to Baal.

But, when the visiting preacher stood and began to preach,
things took a different turn in the service.
The Holy Spirit passed our way,
confirming the word of the preacher to be true.
Though, most of the church, seemed not to recognize It's presence,
it was reassuring to know,
there are some who still worship God in Spirit and Truth.

I've said before, if you can still feel the Holy Spirit in your church,
guard it with all your heart, keep close to God,
and don't let the Fire die out in the House of God.

But, if you don't know what I am talking about,
when I speak of the Holy Spirit; you can know.

When you feel convicted of your sins, and ask God to forgive you,
when God forgives you, that is when you feel the Holy Spirit,
or Holy Ghost the strongest,
and you will know without a doubt, that it is coming from God.

Then throughout your daily life from then on,
you will feel the Holy Spirit,
as It leads and guides you through all truth.

As Jesus said in, John 4: 14
But, whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him
shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him
shall be in him a well of water springing up
into everlasting life.

Jesus said, He lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
No, I am not a preacher, just a sinner, saved by the grace of God.

I want everyone to know that God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son,
and the Holy Ghost are real.

I also want everyone to know if they are not saved,
that they can be saved anywhere,
they don't have to be in a church to be saved.

We have a preaching friend that told us when he prayed to get saved,
he went to the Altar at church and prayed, but,
didn't feel like he'd gotten saved.

So, he went back again and prayed like this:
"Lord if I go to Hell, I'll go believing in you."
At that instant, he said, God saved him.

Praise God!

Our lives here will end, but, we will live forever, somewhere.

Blessings,

Trisha

Please pray for God's churches all around the world.

Worried About the Comet Elenin?

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of articles on the internet,
about the comet Elenin.
Many are indicating that they are truly worried,
that it will crash into the earth.
I know that anything is possible, but, not all things probable.
Sometimes we can get worked into a frenzie over things, that we need not to.
The thing I am reminded of most is, that God is in control, and like the song
says, 'nothing can touch me that doesn't pass through His hands.'
There is a verse in the bible, that brings comfort in these times of restlessness and media hype:

Philippians 4: 6, 7

Be careful for nothing; but in everything
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your request be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

May God Bless and Keep You, Trisha

Vintage Blessings

Vintage Expresso, Old Gas Lamp, Old Needlework
   We had a wonderful weekend;
we got to spend time with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, and do some yard saling and flea marketing.

The weather was great and
God blessed our visit, and trip.
We found some really nice things,

I love the old copper expresso maker;
but, the most unusual thing we found
was this old gas lamp
w/ original shade.
I also love the old patriotic needlework.

We found a lot of red glass,
a mother of pearl cigarette case,
vintage dresser items, and much more.
We couldn't have had a better weekend
if we had ordered one from
The Saturday Evening Post.
We thank God for a Blessed weekend.
Hope you are Blessed today, and always.

Don't Let the Fire Die Out in the House of God

The church was set up to be a light to a lost and dying world.
There used to be fire in the House of God, by fire, I mean, the Holy Ghost.
No, I'm not talking about wildfire, as my husband calls it,
some churches are good at that, too;
I'm talking about the real Holy Spirit of God

We go to many churches in several different counties;
and have been noticing that most local churches are losing their fire.
Ten years ago, if anyone had asked where a good Spiritual church was,
we could have directed them to several, but, not today, they are few.

My husband likened it to being away from home, and getting lost;
and asking a blind man to show you the way home.
Our churches are supposed to be a light to a lost world,
yet they are increasingly becoming like the Laodicean church,
that the apostle John wrote about.

If you are attending a Holy Ghost filled church,
please guard your relationship with God,
and don't make room for Satan's attack,
it's easier to guard what you have,
than to get it back, when it's gone.
Keep the fire burning in the House of God.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:14

What is that well of water springing up into everlasting life, that John speaks of?
The Holy Ghost and Fire.

Blessings friend, don't give up your search for a Spirit filled church,
some still exist.
Until next time, Trisha

Finds from the Stanford City Wide Yardsale

Old Singer Sewing Machine

We found a few things at the city wide yard sale in Stanford, Ky.  last weekend.  We found this old Singer sewing machine, and purchased it to go in an old Singer sewing machine cabinet,  we already had.  We had a great time and met a lot of really nice people.   We didn't find the usual loads of glassware, that we normaly do, on the big sales.  We found lots of nice glass, but, the prices were more than the antique shops have it priced for.  We did find this cute little vintage string holder.  Hope you have a Blessed day,  Trisha

Thank God for the Old Country Church

This morning we went to Tidalwave Baptist Church in Whitley County.  It was a beautiful early Fall morning, with high clouds and a warm breeze. The church stood on top a small hill, as a beacon of hope to a lost world.  You can see my husband, preacher, heading around the building.
Tidalwave Missionary Baptist Church
We had intended on going to another church this morning, but, was led to Tidalwave.  It had been several months since we had been to Tidalwave, but, my husband said, we were going there this morning, because he had a message.
The Pastor Brian Reeder asked my husband to preach.  The message was to the church, the message was FAITH.  I don't know what trials the church, or it's members are, or will be facing; I only know when God leads, we need to follow.  The congregation did come to the Altar to pray.  It was a beautiful sight.  Please keep this church in your prayers.
So many will not bow a knee anymore, even in little country churches.  When we are too proud to bow a knee to a Holy God, how then can we petition Him for a favor?  Dare we even ask?
Have a Blessed day, wherever you are, Trisha

Blessed Sunrise

Blessed Sunrise
This is what I saw this morning,
when I looked out my kitchen window.
I could only say, "Yes Lord."

The chorus of this song came to me:

"Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven's table land.
 A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground."

Oh what a Blessed morning, this is.
Hope you have a Blessed day where you are.

Isaiah 55: 1,2,&3

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters,
and he that hath no money; come ye, buy,
yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread?
and your labour for that which satisfieth not?
hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good,
and let your soul delight itself in fatness
Incline your ear, and come unto me:
  hear, and your soul shall live;
and I will make an everlasting covenant with you,
even the sure mercies of David.
Isaiah 55: 1,2,&3
I love this verse; it is one of my favorites.

I often post about the goodness of God, and how He gives us the desires of our hearts.

Psalm 37:4 says this:
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Now you be the judge, how unlikely is this to have happened?
Victoria magazine has long been one of my favorite magazines,
and I subscribed to it for many years, until I had little time to read it anymore.
I read an article, many years ago about charm strings.
I love antiques, and collect old buttons, but, had never read about the century old tradition of collecting buttons and sewing them into a charm string, with tradition having it that the giver of the thousandth button, would be the one the maker of the charm string would marry.
In June of 1993, Victoria magazine carried an article about charm strings.
I really liked this article and let others read it.  With sharing it, I ended up not getting my magazine back, not even remembering, who I had last let read it.
I am not one to keep a lot of magazines,
but, this is one I would have liked to have kept.
I have looked for this particular magazine, for 18 years and had given up on ever finding it.
Until a couple of days ago, my friend who had had a yard sale, and had lots of glass left, called to see if I might be interested in buying what she had left.  I bought what she wanted to sell, brought it home, unpacked the glass, put it on shelves and tossed the stack of old magazines, with the exception of a Victoria magazine, that had caught my eye.
Today, I had a few extra minutes to read and picked up the magazine, just skimming through the pages, I almost squealed with delight when I came across the article about charm strings.  You might think, so what is the big deal.  I actually ran across, what was probably and old charm string about 20 years ago at a yard sale, but, didn't realize what it was, and didn't buy it.  I remember picking it up and saying to the person with me, 'Look how sweet, some little old lady has sewn her buttons together.'  Authentic charm strings bring a pretty steep price.
Some in 1993 were going for several thousand dollars.
I love collecting things that have a great story behind them.
Now, back to the point of this post.  After 18 years, and having given up on finding the copy of Victoria that had the article about charm strings, it shows up, and Blesses my heart, and makes me smile.  My friend did not know that I had been looking for this magazine, and still does not know.  You might think it is only a coincidence, that maybe she was the last one to read my original magazine in 1993, but, I didn't even know her then.  I only met her a few years ago.

Friend, every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of Lights.
 Oh, praise Him!
Have a Blessed day, wherever you are.
Trisha
