Harlem Shake, No Place in Our Churches

Call me old school, but. I don't think the dance,
the 'Harlem Shake', belongs in our churches.
Churches are supposed to be a place to worship,
Holy and undefiled.

When I first saw the dance on TV, I thought how inappropriate it was,
when I learned that some uptown churches are doing it,
I was appalled.  Surely, I'm not the only one offended
by churches doing a dance like this.

Last week I read in a local newspaper that a local church
was teaching ballroom dancing, and the first dance would be, 'The Hustle'
I was saddened by that, as well.

The Bible speaks of a great falling away, and a great famine in the land,
not for food, or water, but, for hearing the word of God.
God be with us, during these trying times.

I am thankful that there are some churches
that have not been hijacked by of the ways of the world.

Blessings, wherever you are, Trisha.

Please Pray for Israel

Please pray for Israel.
Our world is in turmoil as many countries are
massing in the Persian Gulf with ships, subs and
minesweeping exercises, all the while, Iran continues
to make threats against Israel.
Now is the time for us to pray, pray for the peace of Israel,
and guideance from God.
Blessings,
Trisha

Raise Our Own Meat

   This year after purchasing my Butterball turkey for Thanksgiving dinner;
minutes later, I sat down with my laptop and began
my usual viewing of Facebook, and my favorite blogs.

Within minutes I saw links about Butterball turkeys being halal certified.

My first thought was that some watchdog groups had,
jumped the gun, so to speak, and was accusing Butterball falsely.

But, upon further reading, I was convinced, they were indeed, halal certified.

There was no way I was going to eat,
or serve halal certified meat to my family, not knowingly.

So, I took the turkey back to the grocery store where I purchased it
and told the manager why I was returning it.
He thanked me for telling him, because he was unaware of it himself.

I purchased another brand for our Thanksgiving dinner.

For anyone who is unclear what halal certified meat is,
it is slaughered in a certain way in keeping with Islamic law;
you may want to look it up, but, I think they turn toward Mecca,
slit the animals throat, bleed it, and recite a prayer to their god.

America is a Christian nation,
and we should not have worry whether our meat
has been sacrificed to some other god.

Makes me want to raise our own meat.

Blessings, Trisha

Worried About the Comet Elenin?

Lately, I've been seeing a lot of articles on the internet,
about the comet Elenin.
Many are indicating that they are truly worried,
that it will crash into the earth.
I know that anything is possible, but, not all things probable.
Sometimes we can get worked into a frenzie over things, that we need not to.
The thing I am reminded of most is, that God is in control, and like the song
says, 'nothing can touch me that doesn't pass through His hands.'
There is a verse in the bible, that brings comfort in these times of restlessness and media hype:

Philippians 4: 6, 7

Be careful for nothing; but in everything
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your request be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

May God Bless and Keep You, Trisha

Does Pepsi and Kraft use aborted baby tissue; read for yourself?

I read something appalling this morning.  I read that Pepsi, Kraft, and some others are using HEK-293 ( tissue taken from the kidneys of aborted babies ) to produce a flavor enhancer in their products.  I wanted to scream.  I had never heard of such a horrid thing; and it is being kept from the general public.  Of course it is public knowledge if you know to look for it.  On the Pepsi bottle it merely says natural flavors, so I, like many others, have never had a reason to question, what natural ingredients.

If you search: 'What is HEK-293,' then search 'Does Pepsi use HEK-293; you will find many links about it.  Also pro-life groups are calling for a boycott against Pepsi, because after contacting them, they continue to use HEK-293, while some others that were contacted, stopped.

Well this Kentucky girl will pour out all the Pepsi, and Kraft products in our kitchen, and never purchase more, unless they stop this horrid practice.

Let's Keep Israel in Our Prayers

As most of you know, the Palestinians are planning on petitioning the UN for statehood, with Jerusalem as their capital, in September.  Please pray for the peace of Israel, and that, the US, and Great Britain stands firm along side them.
The Bible tells us that God will bless those that bless Israel, and curse those that curse Israel.  Many think the economy is our biggest issue, but, if the US does not stand with Israel, I shutter to think what might become of our great nation.
   Have a Blessed weekend, Trisha

Watching Egypt Celebrate Democracy

For the last several hours, the announcement that Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak's resignation has dominated the news.  His 30 year presidential reign has ended after 18 days of anti-Mubarak protests by the Egyptian people.
The world is watching as the events unfold.  Democracy should be a right for every nation.  Why are there, those who want to rule others against their will?  We are witnessing history in the making, as with the recent revolution in Tunisia.  I wish the whole world could be free.
One day there will be no dictators, no wars, no pain, and no sin.  One day Heaven will be our home, if we are born again, as Jesus told Nicodemus.

Birds Falling from the Sky!

What in the world is going on?  This sounds like something out of a Horror movie.  Reports have it that thousands of birds have fallen from the sky, dead, in Arkansas, around 500 in Louisana, and some in Kentucky, and around 100,000 fish were found dead washed up on the banks in the Arkansas River.  This happened on New Years Eve night.  Here in Southeast Kentucky we haven't seen any dead birds, at least so far.
This is however one of the strangest thing I've ever heard of.  I've seen only minimal coverage of this on the news, and that in itself is strange.  I've seen more news coverage on the hairless raccoon that was found, than on the thousands of dead birds falling from the sky, and over 100,000 dead fish on the banks of the river.
We live in troubling and uncertain times; and now more than ever, we need the Lord!  He said, He would never leave us nor forsake us, and I thank Him!
