Martin Limoges Laurel and Berries

Martin Limoges  France

We've been out flea marketing again.  I found a beautiful set of French teacups and bouillon cups with saucers.  It is a large set, great shape and makes my heart smile.  The lady I bought it from, said she used to travel a lot and bought it when she was in France. Guess you can tell, I love old dishes.  I also found the green glassware at a This & That shop; I have no idea of what it is, but I like it.
                                                                                                       Have a Blessed day!

Psalm 8

1. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

3. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

4.  What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

5.  For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

6.  Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

7.  All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

8.  The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

9.  O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Spring Snow in Kentucky

Snow Covered Fragrant Flowering Viburnum

We like most everyone else were enjoying the nice Spring weather, until a blast of Winter returned last week.
This morning we awoke to a beautiful Spring snow, that blanketed the ground and everything in it's path.
Our Fragrant Flowering Viburnum had begun to bloom and it was such a welcomed site.  It's delicate and fragrant flowers are now snow covered, but still beautiful.
We wish you the Blessings of God's love and a beautiful day, wherever you are.

Grandpa Jone's old Bible Footlights

My mom gave me this old Bible commentary, probably back in the 1980's, it had belonged to my grandpa Jacob Jones.  It has been read so much that it is literally falling apart.  It was tied together with a handkerchief when mom gave it to me; it still has the same old handkerchief tied around it today.  It is one of my most prized possessions.
I get it out often, and read through it again.  The similarities between it and some of the modern day books on prophecy is astounding.
'The Revival of the Roman Empire'
The Revival of the Roman Empire
is taught in many Bible Prophecy
books today, as it was taught in 1907.

Bible Footlights c/1907

What would the publisher of this old book think, if they could see the events unfolding around our world today?  I believe they would say, it is time that people everywhere, repent and call upon the name of the Lord God, and His Son Jesus Christ.  And to that I say, Amen.

who showed the love of God
through his deeds.

Grandma Jones in one of her many predicaments

Grandma Jones

This is my grandma Margarett Jones, known to most folks as 'Aunt Maggie.'  Grandma was born in 1876 in a time when country folks worked hard and had little in the way of entertainment.  So when a new preacher came to town, it was quite an exciting event.  I can remember my mom telling me this story many years ago:
One morning when my grandma was trying to start a fire in the stove, a knock came on the door; my grandma not expecting anyone that early in the morning; opened the door and was quite flustered to find the new young preacher greeting her, "Good morning Mrs. Jones, how are you?" Grandma was just beside herself, and said, "Oh, I'm just in here, trying to fart a star, oh laud, I'm just in here trying to fart a star." Trying to regain her composure, she finally got out, " I'm just in here trying to start a fire." My mom and the other children stood by taking everything in stride and snickering at Grandma's blunder.  How easily flustered we can become when we are caught off guard.

A Favorite Bible Verse

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered awhile, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Estate Sale Finds

Lamp, Wall Pocket, Marble Egg, Sugar Canister, Indian &
 Horse Figurine, Spatter glazed Pottery

We went to an Estate Sale on Friday; here are a few of our finds.  It was a beautiful day, the people were nice, and we had a great time going through everything.  We arrived on time, but many of the nicer items were already gone, because many people arrived an hour earlier than the sale was advertised for.  All the same, we managed to find a few things that we wanted.

I've been looking for a vintage sugar jar, cannister,
or sugar shaker, for quite some time.
I was surprised to find it.  And thankful.

Vintage Sugar Canister

Vintage Wall Pocket, Spatter Glaze Pottery

I love old wall pockets, and pottery.

We actually found a lot of other things, some needful things like a storage cabinet and a large bookshelf for the garage, a wagner iron skillet, and many little things.
We thank God for the many blessings He has sent our way.

Super Moon Tonight

Super Moon

According to Astronomers we are viewing a Super Moon tonight, March 19, 2011.  It is truly an awesome site.  The moon is closer to the earth than it has been in 18 years.

Bright and Full Moon

A Beautiful Site in the Night Sky

What beauty God has bestowed upon this world we know.

But, as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them which love him.
1st. Corinthians 2:9

It does not compare to the beauty we will see in Heaven.

Weekend Treasure Hunt

Flea Market Treasures

We were blessed this past weekend to spend time with our daughter,  son-in-law, and grandson.  We had a wonderful time talking and playing games on Friday evening, and lots of fun antiquing on Saturday.  We found lots of pretty things, here are a few of my favorites.  We went to two antiques shops in the area, and to the local flea market.  The flea market is where I found these treasures.

Cold Handle Skillet

This is a very large skillet, measuring 26 inches long and 13 inches across.  I have a couple of smaller ones like it, hanging by the fireplace.  This is a good find

Wool or Cotton Carders

I love these old carders.  Who knows, someday I might even use them.

Sewing Box, Photo, Black Crystal, and Pineapple Doily

The man I bought the crystal from told me it was a good piece.  I have never bought black crystal before; but I do think it is pretty.

Old Soap and Costume Jewelry

The old box of toilet soap is precious, not valuable, but a good find nevertheless.  The string of pearls, rhinestone bracelet, and rhinestone pearl pin are only costume jewelry but are really pretty.

The greatest treasure of all was spending time with our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson.  Just priceless!

Old Folks Call'em Rain Crows

The call of a Mourning Dove is a mournful cry like... coo ah coo coo coo.  That is how they got their name.  So precious.

           Mourning Doves

I love birds, and here are some of my favorites.  A pair of Mourning Doves.  Doves are beautiful and the most gentle birds I know of.
Old folks call'em  Rain Crows.  I don't know how that got started exactly, but many people around here still think they are Rain Crows.  When we were growing up, and the old folks heard a Dove calling, they would say, "It's gonna rain, I hear a Rain Crow."
A couple of years ago, some friends were visiting, when a Mourning Dove perched on an electric line near our house began to call.  They said, "There's a Rain Crow hollering, must be gonna rain." My husband told them it was a dove, even showed them the dove on the electric line, and told them to watch it calling and they could tell.  Well, even that never convinced them, to them it was a Rain Crow, guess it always will be.
Be it Doves or Rain Crows,  they are Blessings.

Ask Someone Whose Heart Has Stopped. What Did You See?

Over the years I have read, and saw a lot on TV about the things people saw during near death experiences; that is when their hearts stopped and were revived again.  I don't believe, nor disbelieve those accounts; because I do not know the individuals personally.
There are however, those that I do know personally, that have told me of their near death experiences, and I certainly do believe them.  I would like to share a few of those with you.
Several years ago and elderly neighbor and friend, had a heart attack, and was brought back with the paddles.  We went to the hospital to see him, and I asked him if he saw anything when his heart stopped.  He told me he saw the doctors working on his body, then he saw himself walking up a little path where everything was white, even the leaves on the trees, he said he wandered where he was going, but he didn't care because it felt so good and everything was so beautiful; then he saw the doctors working on him again and they brought him back.  He live a few more years and then went to be with the Lord.
Another time we visited an elderly lady friend that had had a heart attack and was brought back with the paddles.  I asked her if she saw anything when her heart stopped.  She started smiling and told me she saw the most beautiful place she had ever seen.  She said there were flowers everywhere and people she knew.  She saw her brother and other family and friends, but she didn't see her mom and dad.  Then the doctors brought her back; she is near 90 now.
We have another dear lady friend who suffered a massive stroke and had a wonderful story to tell.  She told us that God had showed her the 'River of Life,' she said she saw the most beautiful place that words could hardly describe it.  She is a wonderful lady and devoted Christian.  She testified in church about her vision and said one thing she remembered saying, was "Lord there are so few people here." How Sad.
We had another dear friend, and elderly gentleman who has now gone on to be with the Lord.  He did not have a near death experience, but did have a vision.  He had been troubled over 9-11, and had prayed that God would give him understanding about it.  He was sitting in his chair, and his wife and two daughters were in the room with him when he had the vision.  They said it looked like he was in a trance, they thought he was having a heart attack.  They waved their hands in front of his face without response.  He testified in church about the vision he had.  He said that God showed him things that would be coming upon the earth in the last days. Cities going bankrupt, people starving, big lines of people, lined up to buy food, and many other horrific things, that I will not mention in my blog.  The church chose not to let him continue with his testimony, but my husband and I, felt the Holy Spirit so strong during his testimony, we knew that he was telling the truth, so we asked him to tell us the vision before the next church service.  He came early that evening and told us the whole vision, I asked him if he cared if I wrote it down.  He said he didn't care.  I wrote everything down and many things he saw in the vision, are now happening.
God truly has His people that he reveals things to.  Many scoff, only because they are not those people.  I am thankful that I know a few people that are close enough to God that He still speaks to.  Many Blessings, just felt like sharing my thoughts today.  If you know someone who has been revived, ask them what they saw, some see things, some don't, but you won't know if you don't ask.

Old Bibles from the 1800's

Old Bibles from 1847 and 1858

This morning we were surprised with a wonderful gift from my childhood friend, Brenda, who is visiting from Nebraska.  Her dad is in the hospital and needs prayer.  She and her husband Ron drove down from Nebraska last night, so she could see her dad.
She brought us these two old Bibles.  We haven't read any Bibles this old, and find that they are so interesting.  What a Blessing.

These Bibles contain books that are not included
in our Bibles, as well as commentaries.

These Bibles are very large, about
the size of todays Family Bibles

This old cross stitch and Bible verse cards were in one of the old Bibles.  The cross stitch has the smallest stitching, I have ever seen.  The Bible verses read differently than our Bibles, but appear to have the same meaning.   We can hardly wait to read more in the old Bibles.
This is just beautiful, and still has some of the old tissue paper stitched to the back of it.  We will treasure the old Bibles and little extras always.  But more than that we will treasure our friends even more.

Old Bruton Snuff Box an Unlikely Treasure

Old Bruton Snuff Box

Of all the things people collect, I'm sure an old cardboard snuff box is not something highly sought after, but for me it is a treasure.
It brings back memories of my mom from long ago.  My mom was from the old school, so to speak, she was born in 1914 in a time when using tobacco and snuff was an everyday part of life.  Bruton Snuff was what she dipped, she chewed King Bee Twist, and a plug tobacco, like Day's Work.  I have been looking for an old snuff box like this for a long time.  Yesterday, I decided to advertise over Tri-County Spotlite a local swap shop program in a nearby town.  Only minutes after I advertised for it, I received a call from a man that said his mom thought she had one at her home in Tennessee, and they were going down there and they would look for it and call me back.  They had exactly what I was looking for, and didn't even want to charge me for it.  How precious is that?  Of course I wouldn't take it for nothing, my husband finally got him to take $10.00 but, he really didn't want to.  What a kind thing to do for a stranger.  I was so grateful.  I hope you find your unlikely treasure.
Many Blessings.
